Provision of Focussed Psychological Strategies and lifestyle-based mental health care

Sometimes there are things in our life that make it hard for us to move forward. Perhaps you’re struggling with low mood or anxiety which is getting in the way of living life as you would like to. Or maybe you just want to develop skills and strategies to improve your mental health and wellbeing.

I work with adults over 18 years to provide focussed psychological strategies using a combination of techniques drawn from cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT, otherwise known as ‘third wave’ CBT) and motivational interviewing, with an underlying appreciation of trauma and how it can shape us and our view of the world. The foundation of all health care including mental health care is looking at lifestyle factors such as movement, nutrition, sleep, stress and substance use, and this forms an integral part of my approach.

Counselling can be provided privately, or under a mental health care plan prepared by your own GP. Sessions typically run for 50 minutes. With your permission I will correspond periodically with your regular GP regarding our progress.
